BKFC Champ, UFC Vet Mike Perry Steps in to Box Jake Paul on July 20

The date that once was reserved for Mike Tyson now belongs to Mike Perry .

Perry has agreed to face Jake Paul in a boxing match on July 20 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The fight will be contested over eight rounds in the cruiserweight (200 pounds) division and will be available via pay-per-view through Dazn. Paul was originally slated to meet Tyson on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but that bout was postponed until Nov. 15 due to ulcer-related medical issues for Tyson.

“When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20. Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry ,” Paul said in a release. “He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk. Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man. I’m going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I’m bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson. Paul has become a big star in combat sports after initially making his name as a YouTube personality. His 9-1 boxing record includes wins over MMA notables such as Ben Askren , Tyron Woodley (twice), Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz . Most recently, “The Problem Child” vanquished Ryan Bourland via first-round KO this past March.

The 32-year-old Perry initially gained a following in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he compiled a 7-8 record from 2016 to 2021. “Platinum” has since become arguably the biggest star in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where he owns a 5-0 mark and is the promotion’s 185-pound champion. His ledger includes wins over the likes of Thiago Alves , Eddie Alvarez , Luke Rockhold , Michael Page and Julian Lane .
