Shoplifting duo accused of stealing $850 worth of items from Florida Winn Dixie

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A shoplifting duo from Bunnell, Florida were arrested Thursday after they stole more than $850 worth of items from a Winn Dixie, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Willie London, Jr., 41 dropped Michele Sofia, 38, off at the grocery store on Wednesday, located at 111 Flagler Plaza Drive, where officials said she filled a shopping cart and walked out without paying.

Surveillance footage captured Sofia doing a loop around the parking lot before heading back to London’s vehicle to load the car.

Later, deputies said London entered the Winn Dixie, and loaded a shopping cart, before abandoning the cart to ask an employee about a missing EBT card.

At one point, London left the store and came back with Sofia, to find the cart near the customer service desk. Sofia, again, took the cart and walked out with the items without paying, according to the sheriff’s office. The same vehicle then pulled around and picked up London from the store.

Authorities said the stolen items totaled $857.01, as the first cart had $366.34 worth of merchandise and the second had $490.67.

London and Sofia were found in a tent behind a home on South Church Street where they were arrested. London was arrested for two counts of violating probation, obstruction without violence, and retail theft over $750. He is being held on a $3,500 bond. Sofia was arrested for grand theft of $750-$5,000 and violating probation and is being held on a $2,500 bond.
