Pedestrian hit and killed on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard

A pedestrian was hit and killed on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in Pasco County early Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at 5:53 a.m. at the intersection with State Road 56. The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman from Zephyrhills, stepped from a median into the northbound lanes of Bruce B. Downs and was hit by a 25-year-old Tampa woman driving a Toyota Corolla, the highway patrol said in a news release.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she died, troopers said.

No other details were immediately released.

This is the second fatal crash on Bruce B. Downs this week. A bicyclist was killed at the intersection with Bearss Avenue in Tampa on Monday morning, according to police.
