Mike Evans has spent his entire NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has posted 1,000-yard seasons in all 10 years since being selected 7th overall in the 2014 NFL draft and has become a staple in the franchise.

This offseason, Evans was considering signing elsewhere for the first time in his career. He was expected to draw plenty of interest from teams, and he revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans were among his preferred landing spots.

In an interview with NFL Network, Evans mentioned that his wife, Ashli, told him it made a plea for him to stay in Tampa Bay.

"Really her decision is the reason I decided to stay," he said. "When she gave me the go-ahead, 'we should stay here', a no-brainer.

"I was gonna hit free agency...She said, 'I think we should stay in Tampa.'"

In the end, Evans did not enter free agency and signed a two-year, $52 million deal to remain with the Buccaneers as one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.

Now, he will return as the primary receiving option for Baker Mayfield. In 2023, Evans had 79 catches for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns, while earning a Pro Bowl spot.

He almost entered free agency, but Buccaneers fans should thank Evans' wife for him staying in town.
