DOYLESTOWN, PA—Doylestown’s Memorial Day Parade always draws big crowds, but organizers are expecting an even higher head count at this year’s parade now that it’s been announced that the Budweiser Clydesdales will be marching.

    Schedule

The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. sharp on Monday morning, but there are two flag-raisings before anyone starts marching. At 8:15 on the lawn of the old courthouse, the Vietnam Veterans of America will host a flag-raising ceremony. And at 9 a.m. at War Memorial Field, behind CB West High School, the American Legion Post 210 will host a second flag-raising ceremony.

    Parade route

The parade starts at West Court Street and Lafayette Street (next to CB West High School) to Clinton Street. It continues up State Street, going against the direction traffic would normally travel. The parade then turns left onto North Main Street at the Starbucks, goes uphill and makes a right on East Court Street at the monument in the five-point intersection. It then travels up East Court Street to the Doylestown Cemetery.

    The Clydesdales

The Budweiser team announced on Friday that the public is welcome to watch the Clydesdales as they’re unhitched from their wagon after the parade. When the horses are finished marching, they’ll head to Doylestown Borough Hall at 10 Doyle Street. The team plans to be at Borough Hall for about an hour before they pack up and leave.

    Parking

Parking will be extremely tight around town. Parking will be prohibited on both sides of the parade route beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27. Vehicles parked on the parade route after that time will be towed at their owners’ expense. Free parking is available at the County garage at Broad, Doyle and Union streets.
