    Red Bank Honors Fallen Heroes at Memorial Day Ceremony – WATCH VIDEOS

    RED BANK, NJ: This morning beneath a sky where the sun was breaking through, Red Bank honored its fallen heroes with a heartfelt Memorial Day ceremony.

    At 11am, community members gathered at the Veterans' Monument on 51 Monmouth Street to pay their respects. Wreaths were placed in front of the monument, symbolizing the community’s enduring gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom.

    Adding an emotional touch to the event, Roderick McCloud, of the Atlantic Watch Pipes and Drums, performed stirring musical tributes on his bagpipe. His playing underscored the solemnity of the occasion, resonating deeply with the assembled crowd.

    The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans and the community’s commitment to honoring their legacy.

    The Red Bank Volunteer Fire Department were dressed and looking sharp in full-dressed blues.

    Red Bank Boy Scout Troop 67 and Girl Scout Troop 965, dressed in their crisp uniforms, paid their respects.

    A highlight of the ceremony was the Red Bank Middle School Choir singing the beautiful song "I'll Think of You". Be sure to watch this, and the other videos.

    Mayor Billy Portman led the ceremony, introducing a series of heartfelt speakers who deeply moved the audience. Among them were former Mayor Pat Menna, Rabbi Dovid of Congregation Beth Shalom, and Duane Morrill, the Exalted Leader of Reb Bank Elks #233.

    Brigadier General Dan Hershkowitz, 99th Readiness Division, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Airforce Base, was the keynote speaker and shared poignant stories about the history and sacrifices made.

    In a statement to TAPinto Red Bank, BG Hershkowitz said, “It’s a day of remembrance, a day to reflect on all those heroes that have come before us that have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of this nation.

    "I’m observing today, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and ask young people to think about serving their nation, whether it’s joining the Army or one of the services and giving back for all the freedoms that we have.”

    Joe Minnella began the ceremony singing The Star Spangled Banner and completed the observance with God Bless America as the crowd joined in.
