RAHWAY, NJ — On Saturday, June 29, several Rahway residents were recognized at the 2024 Annual Kairos Scholarship Awards Banquet, hosted by the nonprofit organization It's Kairos Time (IKT).
The banquet took place at Galloping Hill Caterers in Union.
IKT founder Dr. Loucille Black Hollis said that the awards event "celebrated and honored the next generation of service-driven leaders. This year, our theme, 'Influential Person and Legacy,' explored mentors' profound impact on shaping young individuals' growth and legacy. The students' responses were inspiring, reflecting deep insights from historical examples, personal anecdotes, and sociological perspectives."
The afternoon included inspiring speeches, rousing musical performances, good food, and excellent company.
In addition to Dr. Hollis and her IKT team, those adding to the success of the event included Jasmine Moore serving as MC, Tiffani McCutchen contributing powerful vocals, violinist John Clay, poet Clarise Annette Brooks who read an original poem written specifically for the event, the members of His Hands Ministry, and DJ Silverfoxx.
Rev. Dr. Bernadette Glover, of St. Paul Baptist Church in Montclair, delivered the keynote address.
