    Store Employee Assaulted with Chair Over Sandwich Price

    MONTCLAIR, NJ - An employee at the Mission Mart on Mission Street reported an altercation with a customer that escalated into violence.

    According to the police, the August 6 incident began when a man entered the store and ordered a sandwich. A verbal dispute ensued between the man and the employee over the price of the sandwich. The situation escalated further when the man started placing various items into his pockets and attempted to leave the store without paying.

    When the employee tried to prevent him from leaving, the suspect became aggressive, striking the employee multiple times in the head with his fists and a chair. The employee was later treated by Montclair EMS for his injuries.

    The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived. He was described by police as a male wearing a white t-shirt and red shorts.

    The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the local police department.
