East Brunswick 2024 Football Preview

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -- The East Brunswick High School football program had a more active off-season than most teams would prefer.

After a 1-9 season in 2023, Andy Steinfeld was replaced after five seasons as the Bears' head coach despite there being quite a bit of support for him to remain. (See that story here .)

One of Steinfeld's assistants, Matt Pazinko, was named the interim head coach in July. Pazinko will have the job at least through the balance of the 2024 season, and then the position will be officially posted for applicants to tender their resumes for the permanent position.

East Brunswick will open its regular season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Edison.

"With the late transition of head coach, we are trying to keep our camp as normal as possible," said Pazinko, who has been with the football program for 20 years. "We have some returners  that know the ropes along with some newcomers that are eager to join the team."

The returners include senior Ethan Hernandez (RB/DB), senior Felix Munoz (WR/DB), senior Sebastian Derissant (WR/DB), senior Nate Charleston (WR/DB), senior kicker Eran Seinberg, senior Devan Monahan (RB/LB), senior Ralu Anosike (WR/DB), senior Faruq Tajudeen (RB/LB), junior George Crostewitz (OL/LB), junior Jacob Howard (RB/DB), junior Anthony Talluto (OL/DL), junior Sean Nieves (OL/DL), junior Louis Schwall (OL/DL) and junior Chase McLean (WR/DB).

A couple of sophomores who could emerge as significant contributors are RB/LB Cole Zebro and QB/DB Sean Christie.

"This is a hard-working group and we have talented newcomers with good leadership," Pazinko said. "We are eager to get on the field and show what we've got."
