Wood-Ridge to Induct Michael Gibney into the Hall of Fame

WOOD-RIDGE, NJ – Michael Gibney is one of the most accomplished basketball players not only in Wood-Ridge history, but in boys' basketball history in the state of New Jersey.  He will now add member of the Wood-Ridge Hall of Fame to his list of accomplishments as he will be inducted as part of the Class of 2024 at the Fiesta on September 25 ^th .

Wood-Ridge’s All-Time leading scorer with 2,515 points, he is eighth all time in scoring in Bergen County history and 48 ^th in scoring in the history of New Jersey Boys basketball.

He led Wood-Ridge to three straight state sectional finals. In 2010-11, the Blue Devils captured the title with a 65-51 win over Cresskill. In 2011-12, the two schools would meet again, with Cresskill coming out with the victory, 75-59.  In 2012-13, Westwood defeated Wood-Ridge 68-50 in the sectional final.

His individual accolades included being named the Record Athlete of the Week, and being named to the Third Team All League Team as a freshman, Second Team All League as a sophomore and First Team All League as a junior and senior.  He was a Second Team All Bergen County choice as a sophomore and First Team All Bergen County choice in his junior and senior seasons.  Gibney made All State as a senior.

He also represented Wood-Ridge in the North Jersey vs South Jersey All-Star game and played in the Bergen County vs Passaic County All-Star game.

The Hall of Fame Dinner will be at 6:30pm at The Fiesta.  The cost is $90 per ticket. There will be a sit-down dinner and CASH bar for the event.
