Paterson Man Found Dead After Early Morning Shooting

PATERSON, NJ - A 39-year-old Paterson man was found dead in the early hours of August 21, following a shooting in the city, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer in Charge Isa Abbasi announced.

According to a statement, at approximately 1:37 a.m., Paterson Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Madison Avenue and 14th Avenue in response to a ShotSpotter activation, a system designed to detect and locate gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying face down with a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts to render aid, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
