Welcome to another edition of the Red Bank Beat. This one is especially hard for me to write, given the news that we have announced today. But it is news that I must share with all of you, so here goes...

A CHANGE AT THE HELM OF RIVERCENTER

Yes, it’s true. I have made the difficult decision to step down from my position as Executive Director of the Red Bank RiverCenter by the end of the year. This was not an easy decision to make, because I have so enjoyed my time here managing this great organization for the past couple of years.

However, and I know this is a cliché, but I really do want to spend more time with my family! My husband Grant has been retired for the past year, and I certainly want to spend more time with him. And I have family not just in New Jersey but from all over the country – from Massachusetts and upstate New York to D.C. and Florida, and even all the way to Hawaii!

So, I just felt like this was the right time for me to step back, do some travelling and, hopefully, just enjoy life! I’m going to miss everyone here in Red Bank for sure. But, the good news is that I’m not going far! I live nearby, and I will be back to visit – a lot!!

I will be very involved in the transition period in both helping to find my successor as well as helping them learn the ropes once they have been hired so by 2025 they can hit the ground running. We still have our awesome staff, Tom, Lori and Margaret, and, like I said, I’ll be around for all of our great upcoming events, such as Oktoberfest, the Halloween parade, Witches Night Out, Small Business Saturday, the Town Lighting and all the great holiday events, including some cool new things this year!

So, I’m not ready to say farewell yet. We’ve got plenty of time for that. And in the meantime, there are other things going on, so let’s get right to it!

    INDIE STREET FILM FESTIVAL
    CONTINUES THROUGH SUNDAY

The fun has already begun at the Indie Street Film Festival and it is continuing throughout the week into the weekend. I attended the opening night party at the Vogel on Monday, and the energy in the room was just electric! Everyone was excited about the various films and short features that would be presented during the week, and there are still many great films to come.

Thursday kicks off with a sip and shop happy hour at the Two River Theater, followed by a documentary feature about celebrity clothing designer Patricia Field called “Happy Clothes.” There is also a shorts program and an official Indie Street After Party at Triumph Brewing.

On Friday, there will be a great discussion on the rooftop of the Vogel about the future of filmmaking given the advent of AI. There’s also a documentary feature on AI called Eternal You, and an afterparty at one of our great new businesses, Five Dimes Brewery.

On Saturday, programming will continue throughout the day and through the evening with more short features, followed by two feature films and the Closing Night Party at Urban Coalhouse in the Galleria. Sunday rounds out the week with a Filmmakers Brunch and Discussion at ANI Art Academy on Broad Street, more shorts, another feature film and the Indie Street Awards Ceremony at Triumph Brewing from 4:30 – 6:00 PM.

It's real easy to get your passes for Indie Street – just click on the program that you’d like to buy tickets for at this link and you’ll be good to go! I’d like to thank everyone at Indie Street for continuing to believe in downtown Red Bank by bringing their film festival here!
    ENDLESS SUMMER AT GALERIE LUCIDA
Galerie Lucida, our great new art gallery at 18 Wallace Street, is launching their Endless Summer Art Fair. It’s both an exhibition and a pop-up art event that runs from August 22 through Sunday, September 1. This exhibition/fair was inspired by local artist Kathleen Beausoleil’s observational paintings of New Jersey beach scenes and summer pastimes.

In addition to Kathleen’s beautiful work, there are 20 or so other artists participating, including a friend of mine from South Orange, Ben Salmon, who creates these wonderful wool-felted statement pieces.

f you’re reading this on Thursday, then you’re not too late to join the artists for an opening reception on Thursday from 5-9 PM. And if you can’t make that, you’ve got 10 more days to stop in, enjoy the beautiful artwork and maybe pick up a piece or two!
