Heat Wave Advisory Tomorrow 8/28/24

NEPTUNE CITY - Heat advisories, warnings and watches have been issued for much of New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service reporting.  The temperature on Wednesday 8/28 will have a "Real Feel" of up to 105 degrees.

Residents are advised to stay indoors when possible.  When outdoors, take frequent breaks to rest and hydrate.  Please check on neighbors, particularly the elderly and those with health conditions. Sunglasses, sunscreen and head coverings are essential, and do not leave children or pets unattended in cars for any length of time.

Cooling stations are available as follows:

• Neptune City Community Center (117 3rd Ave), 12-8 Monday through Wednesday
• Neptune Township Public Library (25 Neptune Blvd), 9-5 on Monday and Wednesday and 9-8 on Tuesday
• Neptune Township Senior Center (1607 Rt 33), 8-3:45 Monday through Wednesday

Please monitor the weather throughout the day if you plan on going outside, which should be avoided if possible, and be aware of the symptoms of dangerous heat and sun exposure, which can include:

• faintness
• nausea/vomiting
• rapid or weak pulse
• any abnormal medical symptoms
