    Football: Perth Amboy Beats JFK-Iselin in Opener, 27-9

    WOODBRIDGE, NJ — John F. Kennedy High School football team, from Iselin, opened its season with a 27-9 loss to Perth Amboy on Thursday evening.

    JFK's Mustangs did all their scoring in the second half. Richie Trotman threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Grant Lorentzen in the third-quarter, followed by Manny Perez-Quijano's extra point.

    In the fourth quarter, JFK scored a safety after Leo Sedasey blocked Perth Amboy's punt attempt out of the end zone. Fiheem Howell Jr. led the Mustangs in rushing with 52 yards on 13 carries. Lorentzen caught six passes for 62 yards. Trotman was 8-for-12 for 65 yards passing.

    JFK will play at Voorhees in Hunterdon County (Glen Gardner) next Friday night. Perth Amboy will be at Carteret on Friday night.
