    Fairfield Fire Department Rescues Two Passengers in Flipped Over Vehicle on I-80

    FAIRFIELD, NJ -- The Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched just before 9 p.m. on Thursday to Interstate 80 East for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

    Upon the arrival of state police, the entrapment was confirmed with the vehicle being rolled over and resting on its roof.

    According to the Fairfield Fire Department, one patient was easily extricated by police upon arrival of fire units, however the second patient had a limb trapped between the roof of their car and the pavement via the sunroof.

    Utilizing a carjack, crews from Squad 1 and Engine 2 lifted the rear of the vehicle up, stabilizing the vehicle, each raise using wooden cribbing.

    The total process of freeing the victim took less than minutes from the time of first arriving fire units, according to the fire department. Responding units were Squad 1, Engine 2, and Rescue 3.
