    Clark PD Make Arrest in USPS Mailbox Theft

    The Clark Police Department has made an arrest in a theft involving a United States Postal Service mailbox located on Clark property.

    CLARK, NJ — On Friday, August 30, the Clark Police Department made an arrest following a report that someone was breaking into the USPS mailbox on Clark Township property.

    According to the Clark PD, "Officers quickly converged in the area and located an adult male in the area of Dawn Drive. Upon seeing the Clark [o]fficers, the male took flight, running away. Ultimately, after a brief foot pursuit along with several verbal commands from Clark [o]fficers, the male was apprehended and placed in custody without further incident."

    Police officers also located a 2024 Hyundai Elantra registered in Florida, later determined to have been used by the suspect. The Clark PD took possession of the vehicle for further investigation.

    Damion D. McPhaul, a 23-year-old resident of the Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens, NY, has been charged with the following and placed on a complaint-warrant:

    • 1. One count of Obstructing the Administration of Law, 2C: 29-1A (4th degree crime)
    • 2. One count of Resisting Arrest, 2C: 29-2A(2) (4th degree crime)
    • 3. One count of Theft of Moveable Property, 2C: 20-3A (3rd degree crime)
    • 4. One count of Burglary Tools, 2C: 5-5A(2) (Disorderly Persons Offense)

    McPhaul is currently being held in the Union County Correctional Jail as he awaits a court hearing.
