    West Caldwell Mourns Former Police Captain Alfred Joseph Kopf

    WEST CALDWELL, NJ – Alfred Joseph Kopf, a retired former captain of the West Caldwell Police Department, died at 96 on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

    Kopf served the West Caldwell Police Department from 1950 to 1979. He served in the U.S. Army, providing support for the Korean Conflict from 1946-1948.
    His son John also served the West Caldwell Police Department from 1988 until retiring at the rank of lieutenant in 2015.

    “Captain Kopf's legacy of service, love, and integrity will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered. May he rest in peace,” the West Caldwell Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page.
    Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home (45 Roseland Ave, Roseland, NJ 07068) followed by the funeral service from the same location.
