UNION, NJ - Union firefighters battled an attic fire on Remmos Avenue Friday night, said Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi.

Firefighters arrived at 839 Remmos Avenue to find a ‘well-involved’ attic fire.  Ricciardi said firefighters brought the fire under control, ventilated the home, and searched the building.  He said all occupants were safe and no firefighters were injured.

The home is uninhabitable, said Ricciardi, and firefighters assisted residents with gathering essential belongings.  They said they will be staying with relatives until repairs to the home can be made.

Mutual aid from Elizabeth, Springfield, and Hillside were brought in to cover the town while all Union companies were engaged in the incident.
