    Millburn Residents Read 37,537 Books During Library’s Summer Reading Contest, Plus Future Events

    MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn Free Public Library recently reported impressive statistics for its annual Summer Reading Contest. 1,199 readers read 37,537 books.

    • 921 kids
    • 100 teens
    • 178 adults

    Over the summer, the library hosted many interesting and fun activities for children, teens and adults, including the Second Annual Pride Celebration, live and virtual author visits, crafts, a Juneteenth celebration, a cybersecurity presentation, a Medicare presentation, a live concert series, hybrid events, the seed packet library, a class about cyanotype (solar printing), a pop-up at Liv Breads, an Aquatic Adventures program, storytelling, a ChatGPT lesson, poetry talks, a pop-up at Town Hall Plaza, an exploration of Iceland, reading to a therapy dog, laser tag, a book and video club for kids, the 2024 BCCLS Library VIP Guest Pass Tour (continues until Sept. 30), scarf making, a teen water fight and more.

    Coming up soon:

    August 19 to August 30: Toys Sleepover in which stuffed animals sleep at the library on the bookshelf for as many days as you’d like.

    August 28: Bubbly Adventures with Miss Jolie from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. It's “a music and movement program for young kids [that] includes a bubble show and bubble popping fun.” Registration is mandatory: https://millburnlibrary.libcal.com/event/1186405
