Carthage’s Hooper has another big rodeo week
SALINAS, Calif. (KLTV) - Carthage native Tilden Hooper brought home over $10,000 over the weekend at two different rodeos. At the Snake River Stampede in Nampa, Idaho, Hooper finished in second place in average with a score of 172 on two head. That finish earned him $3,371. In the finals, Hooper finished in second place with a score of 88 on a horse named Womanizer to win $1,250. At the California Rodeo Salinas in Salinas, California, Hooper placed second in round one on a horse named Lucky Charm with a score of 84.5 to earn $4,623. Hooper placed sixth in average to earn an additional $1,156, for a total winnings of $10,400.
Longview’s King takes the podium at ACC Media Day
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (KLTV) - Former Longview Lobo Haynes King took the stage on Monday to speak to the media at ACC Media Day in Charlotte, North Carolina. The junior was peppered with questions during Georgia Tech’s availability. One thing that King was asked, was where he feels his game has progressed the most this offseason.
Volleyball Collects AVCA Team Academic Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The 2023-24 LeTourneau volleyball team picked up one more team honor as it was recognized as a USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award recipient, announced the organization recently. It is the sixth time since 2016 that LeTourneau has earned the honor, and the second straight year. Under head coach Alison Williams, the YellowJackets garnered the award and posted 3.61 team GPA in the spring after a 3.36 mark during the fall semester. Fourteen of the team’s members earned ASC Academic All-Conference, two players earned CSC Academic All-District accolades, and Allison Smith was an ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipient.…
