    Morton hospital will have new owner: Lifespan announces $175M deal

    Morton Hospital in Taunton and Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River will have a new owner, with nonprofit Rhode Island healthcare provider Lifespan agreeing to buy both operations.

    Lifespan announced Thursday it will purchase the hospital operations, the buildings and their land for $175 million.

    Taunton neighbors accuse city of breaking promise to protect parcel

    Is Taunton trying to sell off land it doesn’t have the right to sell?

    That's what a group of residents say about a proposal to rezone a 28-acre parcel of land from open space to industrial — so it can be auctioned off to companies looking to get within proximity of the Myles Standish Industrial Park.

    The parcel in question, designated as lot number 29-14 Prince Henry Drive, is situated between residential areas along Crane Avenue South and Pondview Circle on one side, and the businesses of WIN Waste Innovations, Tribe Mediterranean Foods, and Callico Distributors inside the Industrial Park, on the other side.

    Another Taunton High softball pitcher is heading to Division 1

    Taunton High softball pitcher Cate Larson has announced her verbal commitment to continue her academic and softball career at a Division 1 school.

    Larson intends to play for Georgetown University, becoming the third Tiger pitcher this decade to continue her softball career at the NCAA Division 1 level, following Villanova's Kelsey White (2021) and Texas Tech's Sam Lincoln (2024).
