TAUNTON, Mass (WPRI) — The Taunton Police Department is refusing to release information about what occurred at Mayor Shaunna O’Connell’s home early Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, O’Connell acknowledged police were called during an argument between her and her husband.

When asked Sunday morning for additional details, 12 News was told by police there is no information to release.

O’Connell campaign spokesperson Holly Robichaud also declined to provide additional information, but also said Taunton police have not been instructed to withhold details.

“Ted and I have been married for 27 years,” O’Connell said in a statement Saturday. “Like all couples, we have had challenges. We’ve been working through marital issues. During an argument Ted involved the police and regrets making that decision.”

O’Connell, a former state lawmaker, was first elected mayor in 2019 and won a third term last November.
