FIRST WARN WEATHER DAY: Severe Thunderstorm Watch replaces Tornado Watch
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in place until 4 AM for counties to the southeast of Kansas City. Once the severe threat shuts off late Friday evening, we could still see a few generic showers and storms dancing through the area overnight. The overnight severe threat is not very high. Some of the latest computer models want to bring some new isolated thunderstorm initiation into early Saturday morning, but confidence is low in that as of right now. Lows will drop to the lower 70s. Saturday should be mainly dry. Aside from that small lingering morning shower chance, we are expecting clouds to clear and highs to be in the mid-80s. Those to the south of I-70 will be hotter, so maybe even upper 80s and lower 90s the farther south you go. Northern Missouri will be much cooler with a north breeze in the lower 80s. Even cooler on Sunday, maybe with some of us not even getting out of the upper 70s! It will be a nice day, with another small chance at a shower or two, but mainly dry. This next week has numerous small rain and thunderstorm chances, but it is a mainly comfortable forecast in the 80s. Next Tuesday could be hot in the lower 90s, but that is the hottest we go. The Fourth of July looks pretty pleasant with mid-80s for highs. Right now we just have a 30% confidence in a stay thunderstorm or two. We will keep an eye on it.
