TEXAS (KXAN) — The Brazos River Authority enacted Stage 3 water restrictions following temporary pump failures at Lake Granger, the City of Taylor announced Monday afternoon.

Officials noted they expect the issue to be resolved “in a timely manner” and for restrictions to return to Stage 2 in the near future, per a Monday release. Those under the Stage 3 restrictions are asked to minimize their water use “to only basic living needs” and to avoid using large quantities of water, such as for refilling pools or washing vehicles.

Under Stage 3 restrictions, outdoor water irrigation is restricted save for between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m., as well as between 8 p.m. and midnight on these watering days:

    • Sundays, Thursdays: Customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
    • Saturdays, Wednesdays: Customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9)

With Stage 3 enacted, irrigation for landscaped areas is only allowed during the above time frames and only via a handheld hose, handheld buckets, drip irrigation or permanently involved sprinkler systems. Customers cannot use hose-end sprinklers at any point, per the release.

The temporary pump failures are the result of an electrical power issue at the East Williamson County Regional Water System intake structure along Lake Granger. As a result of the electrical problems, three pumps went offline.

One pump has been restarted by reinstating the other two pumps hasn’t been successful as of Monday afternoon. More details on Stage 3 restrictions are available here .
