Teague sending 10 to Area Meet

Ten Teague athletes - five male, five female - will compete in the Districts 19/20-3A Area Track & Field Meet on Friday in McGregor.

These athletes qualified for the meet by finishing in the top four of their event(s) at the District 20-3A Meet April 3-4 at Fairfield. The top four in each area meet event will qualify for the Region III-3A Meet April 19-20 at Midway High School’s Panther Stadium in Waco.

LIONS

Teague will have five athletes in five events Friday with three of those athletes competing in multiple events. Jehmel Rice will compete in four events (200-meter run, 4x100-meter relay, 4x200-meter relay, triple jump), while Kemauri Evans (100-meter run, 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay) and J’Kybryen Harris (4x100 relay, 4x200 relay, triple jump) will each compete in three.

Joining Evans, Harris and Rice on the 4x100 will be Bryce Bates; and Zak Leija will join that trio of the 4x200. In the district meet, the 4x100 relay team finished second and the 4x200 relay team took third.

Evans was second in the 100 and Rice finished fourth in the 200. Harris and Rice finished second and third, respectively, in the triple jump.

LADY LIONS

Five Lady Lions will compete in the area meet on Friday. They are Chloe Kuzmich, Deja Franklin, Vanessa Hernandez, A’Shaiya Jones and Bethanah Owens.

Kuzmich will compete in the 3,200-meter run, which she finished third in during the 20-3A Meet. Franklin, Hernandez, Jones and Owens will compete in the 4x200-meter relay, which they finished fourth in.
