Teague junior J’Kybryen Harris felt good about his distance of 45 feet, 3.25 inches in the triple jump Monday afternoon in Waco.

Harris, who jumped a then-school record 45 feet at the area meet on April 12, broke the record again on Monday, which was good enough for a third-place in the Region III-3A Meet at Midway High School. Then the waiting game took place.

Harris cautiously waited to learn the results from the other three region meets in Class 3A. Fortunately, none of the other third-place finishers jumped farther than Harris, which gave him the wild card berth in the Class 3A state meet on May 2 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Harris will be the only Teague representative at the state meet. The top two finishers per regional event and top thirdplace finish in the state qualify for the state meet.

Harris also competed in the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays. Joining Harris on the 4x100 was Bryce Bates, Kemauri Evans and Jehmel Rice; and Zak Leija joined Evans, Harris and Rice on the 4x200.

Rice also competed in the triple jump and 200-meter run.

Evans also competed in the 100-meter run.
