One of two men arrested during a recent narcotics investigation was sentenced to time in prison during a change of plea hearing in Crawford County Common Pleas Court last week.

Michael R. Lucas, 33, Crestline, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to a minimum of six years and a maximum of nine years in prison. Two possession of drugs charges were dismissed as part of Lucas’ plea agreement, according to court records.

Lucas also was ordered to pay court costs associated with his case and to forfeit drug-related property, including cell phones and electronic devices, to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Lucas was arrested, along with Zachariah X. Zacharzuk, 29, of Galion , on June 4 as the result of a narcotics investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Special Response Team.

Officers seized more than a half-pound of methamphetamines as well as fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and cash from a residence in the 300 block of Third Avenue in Galion, according to court records.

Zacharzuk is facing similar charges; his case is pending.

Lucas will receive credit for 52 days he already served in jail awaiting the outcome of his case.

He was represented by Galion attorney Mackenzie Garverick
