State offering $2 million in grants for historic restoration/rehab projects
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Historical Commission announced a new grant to help cover the cost of restoring National Register-listed historic properties in the state. Overall, $2 million is available from the Historic Property/Land Acquisition Fund (HPLAF) Grant Program this year. Applications are open now through Aug. 31. KFD said crews responded to the fire in the 4400 block of Norwalk Avenue at around 4:20 p.m. Sunday after a man called the Knox County Emergency Communications District and said his home was on fire.

The Arts & Culture Alliance and Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority announce a call for entries for the 31st biannual Arts in the Airport at McGhee Tyson Airport, a juried exhibition developed to allow regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. Approximately 40-45 fine art works encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will comprise the exhibition in the secured area behind McGhee Tyson Airport’s security gate checkpoint from October 22, 2024 – April 2025. Prizes include $1,000 in cash awards.
