17th Annual Arts In The Park – Call for Artists & Crafters
Arts In The Park is back for the 17th year on Saturday, September 21, 2024, 10 am to 4 pm, at Downtown on the Green & Farmers Market. Application Deadline August 28. Arts In The Park, “Art In The Heart of Hamblen County,” is a one-day celebration of visual arts—two-dimensional fine art, fine quality crafts, artistic photography, and sculpture. Applications from artists and crafters will be accepted through August 28.

River Riders drop series opener to Johnson City
The Elizabethton River Riders dropped their fifth game in a row on Saturday in the series opener to the Johnson City Doughboys, 5-3. Elizabethton (14-25) jumped out to an early lead against Johnson City (19-18) after Nick Hockemeyer (Purdue Fort Wayne) singled in the second to score two. Last week during devotions at the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center we talked about forgiveness. I often ask myself what does it truly mean to forgive someone? Forgiveness isn’t an easy thing to do. We can say we forgive someone but as soon as the problem presents itself again, do those emotions creep up on you like it just happened? Unforgiveness can leave us bitter. It can harden our heart and make us less sensitive to others. It’s so important to clear your conscience and not harbor bitterness inside you. Forgiveness removes a burden that you decide not to carry. It releases emotions from your body and sets you free.
