Former Arizona State star Terrell Suggs eligible for Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025

The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted its newest class in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 3, with attention already turning to the players eligible for the first time in 2025.

One of the headliners for that group is former Arizona State star Terrell Suggs , who set the NCAA single-season record with 24 sacks in 2002. That year, Suggs was also named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, unanimous All-American and won the Lombardi Award.

The Baltimore Ravens drafted him No. 10 overall in the 2003 NFL Draft and he played 17 seasons, winning two Super Bowls and being named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2003 and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

In July, Suggs was one of just two Big 12 players to make ESPN’s list of the 25 greatest college football players of the 21st century, coming in at No. 11.

Even if Suggs is elected to the Hall of Fame, there’s a chance he might not be able to attend. He’s scheduled to go on trial in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Sept. 19, on charges of threatening and intimidating as well as disorderly conduct with a weapon after he allegedly brandished a gun following an altercation in a Starbucks drive-thru line.

Also in their first year of eligibility is former Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib , who played 12 seasons in the NFL. Talib was an All-American and two-time All-Big 12 pick at Kansas, earning Orange Bowl MVP honors in 2007.

In the NFL, he was a first-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008 and went on to become a two-time NFL All-Pro, four-time Pro Bowler and won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos following the 2015 season.
