    Tennessee Army National Guard rescues Smokies hiker

    A Tennessee Army National Guard crew rescued a hiker in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Wednesday. The hiker was in "cardiac distress," according to an Army release.

    A flight crew from Joint Base McGhee Tyson arrived in the Double Spring Gap Shelter area of the park Wednesday evening and found the hiker being treated by park rangers. Crew members airlifted the hiker to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
