TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Tonight, citizens in Vigo County got a chance to meet with Doctor Janie Myers, the Vigo County Coroner, who is also currently running for re-election.

The event was held today at the Loose Goose Coffee Company. This was an opportunity for community members to hear about everything the coroner’s office has done this past year, and what they have planned for the future. One of the main things Myers is excited about, is the new Vigo County Morgue.

Currently, the county uses Regional Hospital facilities as a morgue. However, with limited space, the county has now turned to opening its own morgue.

“We now have a place that we can do what we need to do without moving the bodies so much so that we can do the right thing the first time for our loved ones,” Dr. Meyers said.

The new Vigo County Morgue will be open for the public to view on July 31, from 4 to 6 p.m.
It’s located at 600 West Honey Creek Drive.
