TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Children’s Museum held their annual Train Day Saturday.

This is the 10th year for the event. The idea came from Terre Haute’s railroad history and current tradition.

Today, the museum had train layouts on display for kids to look at, build, and play with. They also built a train horn and explained to visitors why the horn is so important.

The Wabash Valley Railroad Museum helped in planning this event.

The Director of Education at the Children’s Museum says that size is the reason kids enjoy trains so much.

“These over-sized, huge, powerful things are fascinating to them. The model train world lets that come down to smaller than they are, and they then have a little bit of power over their experience with the trains.”

Renee Henry – Director of Education at the Children’s Museum

The Central Indiana Division of the National Model Railroad Association is hosting a train show on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
