TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ -  Logan Fire was the recipient of the third Annual Ehmann History Award presented by the Tewksbury Historical Society in memory of Elsie Ehmann at the Seventh Grade Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 14. It is given to a seventh-grade student at the Old Turnpike School, Tewksbury Township, in recognition of his curiosity, passion, strong interest in and dedication to studying New Jersey and local history. The Award was presented by Melissa Ehmann, daughter of Elsie Ehmann, at the Old Turnpike School's Annual Award Ceremony.

Logan is the son of Erica and Evan Fire of Tewksbury, who are immensely proud of their son. According to his mother, Logan is an inquisitive student, earnestly interested in learning new things - past and present. He comes from a family whose members have made their own contributions to America's strong well-being.

In response to his award, he told the Historical Society that "my interest in history probably started before I can remember. I've always loved to read and eventually I stumbled across history books. Some of the first history books I read were about World War 2. When I was a little boy, I loved construction vehicles and the closest thing to construction, mechanics and engineering during World War 2 were tanks and planes. I love to research about all the equipment and vehicles during World War 2. I also remember hearing stories about both of my great grandfathers who fought bravely. My great-grandfather, Frederick P. Dollenberg was a decorated pilot, one of the courageous few holding the title of "Flying Ace". Those stories inspired me to keep reading and ask more questions. I love studying history. Although I was shocked and completely surprised, I am honored to be the recipient of the Ehman History Award. I aspire to live up to its legacy."

The award is given annually to a student selected by the social studies teachers who most exemplifies the criteria established. It consists of a monetary check and a small gift. A personal plague is also given by the school. William's name will be engraved on two plagues, one displayed at the school and one at the Tewksbury Historical Society's Carriage House on James Street in Oldwick. It is given in memory of Elsie Ehmann, a longtime resident and avid volunteer in Tewksbury, who passed away in 2021. She was a Charter Member of the society and served as its Treasurer for twenty-five years. Elsie sought and encouraged ways to strengthen the connection between the Tewksbury Historical Society and the township residents, encouraging learning by both.
