Downed wires near Rahway, New Jersey caused service disruptions for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak Sunday. Services between New York City and Phialdephia were suspended just before 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon and partially restored around 6:30 p.m. Services have been fully restored, and both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak are back up and running.
Search continues for man who went missing in Delaware River
Police and rescue workers are still trying to find a man who witnesses said may have drowned Saturday afternoon in the Delaware River. Dive teams and rescuers in boats searched the area near the Easton wastewater plant, where multiple witnesses saw the man disappear under water around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Pennsylvania Water Rescue Chief Branden Bachman.

HILLSIDE — In the latest hot spill lawsuit against Dunkin' in New Jersey, a Union County woman claims she suffered severe and permanent burns on her hand due to negligence. Essence Springer bought a hot mint tea at the Dunkin' drive-thru on Liberty Avenue in Hillside on Dec. 17, 2023, according to the lawsuit filed last week.

Monmouth Park hosted their signature race, the grade 1 Haskell Stakes, on Saturday. Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch earned his fourth career stakes victory in an exciting stretch battle, once again fending off the late rally of Mindframe, who finished second to Dornoch in the Belmont as well, and crossing the wire 1 1/4 lengths in front. He covered 1 1/8 miles on a fast main track in 1:50.31 for an ownership group led by West Paces Racing LLC, trainer Danny Gargan, and jockey Luis Saez.
Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. The program aims to foster positive relationships between police officers and young Cranford community residents while educating them about the realities of police work.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER To that end, cadets engaged in a variety of activities throughout the week, including physical fitness training; crime scene investigation; motor vehicle stop procedures; K-9 unit demonstrations; emergency vehicle operations; SWAT and Bomb Squad; breaching procedures; and taser training. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. The program also covered important topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, and bullying prevention given by CPD’s Juvenile Detectives and Investigation Bureau.
