The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department :
A deputy was dispatched June 3 regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at a Cherry Street residence in Raymondville.
The officer made contact with a 38-year-old woman there who said a 36-year-old man had grabbed her by the throat and thrown her to the ground in an altercation that began over a cigarette.
The man told the deputy he was getting belongings from the house to stay with his mother while the divorce was being finalized and he was able to evict the woman from the residence. He told the officer the woman was following him around the house yelling at him, and then into the front yard, urging him to assault her.
A 40-year-old Cabool woman reported on May 25 that her 36-year-old former husband had unlawfully entered her Chestnut Avenue residence and stolen a Glock handgun valued at $350.
The woman showed an investigating deputy video depicting the suspect entering the home on May 17.
The woman later told the officer that the man had returned the pistol, but she still wanted to pursue charges. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.
On June 22, a deputy was dispatched to a Horseshoe Drive residence in Houston regarding an ongoing dispute between neighbors.
The officer made contact with a woman there who said a neighbor man had blocked her driveway with fence posts and a picnic table, and she wanted to know her rights considering they have an ingress and egress agreement.
The officer spoke with the neighbor man and he said the driveway was his property and he could block off the entrance to it as long as he still allowed an access point to the residence. He said he did, and that was going to have to be the new driveway.
The woman and her husband said they were trying to sell the house and they would remove the fence posts, and the neighbor said he would put them back up.
Both parties were advised to attend civil court over the matter.
