WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A man who resisted arrest and injured two officers trying to clear a closed Wichita Falls hotel of trespassers will now find housing in a state facility.

Anthony Bowen is sentenced to three years in prison for assaults on officers and 60 days in jail for evading arrest. The 78th District Court dismissed the criminal trespass and resisting arrest charges in the plea deal.

In April, police made one of several responses to an ongoing situation of trespassers, squatters and broken windows in the closed La Quinta Inn on Central Freeway, which was closed by the city for code violations.

As officers began chasing and arresting suspects, they said Bowen ran into a room, closed the door, and when officers entered, they said he tried to run through them.

One officer suffered a head injury, and the other had a broken finger. Bowen’s previous convictions list eight charges for burglary of vehicles.
