During the Perryville City Council meeting on July 11, it was announced that the city had been reimbursed by insurance for damage to the Chaplin River walking bridge caused by an intoxicated driver who attempted to cross it earlier this year. Insurance covered the total cost of repairs.

“We had already gotten it fixed because we didn’t want to risk it being damaged for Turtle Derby. We are squared away now,” said Perryville Mayor Rob Kernodle.

It was also announced that no one had filed yet for election to Perryville City Council in November. The deadline for filing is Oct. 5.
