Boll & Branch’s Most Luxurious Fabric Debuts on the Runway at Prabal Gurung’s NYFW Show

    NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 7, 2024--

Beloved luxury bedding brand Boll & Branch makes its runway debut in a first-of-its-kind collaboration at New York Fashion Week, with esteemed fashion designer Prabal Gurung crafting ready-to-wear out of the brand’s sheeting fabric. All 100% organic cotton featured in the show is the brand’s Summit Supima, the same fabrication Prabal used to craft a dress for the 2024 Met Gala, worn by tennis star Maria Sharapova.

This next step in their partnership highlights Boll & Branch and Prabal Gurung’s common roots in South Asia; Boll & Branch’s Summit Supima is woven by one of their longest-term partners in India, and much of their 100% organic cotton is sourced from family-owned farms in the country. Prabal remains deeply connected to his Nepali heritage, often turning to it for inspiration. This collection is no different, as it was inspired by Holi, a Hindu festival signifying rebirth and rejuvenation. The show’s finale underscored this; models dressed in Prabal’s all-white Boll & Branch designs were showered in colorful powder, as is done at Holi celebrations around the world, showcasing optimism and new beginnings.

“Our show is a platform for us to visually communicate who we are and the world we want to live in, and I especially love to express myself through our vibrant finale,” says Prabal. “This season, we wanted to create a celebration and highlight the spirit of the Holi holiday. I was inspired by Boll & Branch’s Supima cotton – the movement, structure, ease and beauty – that I felt compelled to create a powerful and dedicated moment. Plus, who doesn’t love an effortless and chic white dress for Spring and Summer?”

In its pursuit of changing the way luxury textiles are made, Boll & Branch has positioned itself as the leader in sustainable, luxury fabric making. Having launched with strong success in sheets and duvet sets following its debut at the Met Gala, Summit Supima has already cemented itself as one of the brand’s most iconic fabrics. It’s made with 100% American-grown organic Supima, a rare species of cotton that accounts for less than 0.01% of the world’s supply. Due to its rarity and the care taken in production to create its unique texture and drape, it’s only released in limited-run batches.

“From day one, our mission has always been to surpass our customers’ wildest expectations, and our Summit Supima is just one example of this,” says Missy Tannen, Founder & Chief Product Officer at Boll & Branch. “For Prabal to find its quality worthy of not only the Met Gala, but also his Fashion Week show, really shows how impactful our work has been. We hold our product to such high standards, it truly is runway-worthy.”

Boll & Branch prides itself on never compromising its standards on delivering the highest quality experience to its customers, in both product and hospitality. The brand has successfully been able to offer unparalleled experiences to its customers that immerse them into the world of Boll & Branch, like inviting one to attend the NYFW show alongside Tannen. In addition to being the first Boll & Branch customer to learn of the collaboration and view the collection, the customer was given the unique opportunity to discuss the partnership with Tannen as they watched it unfold. Boll & Branch is consistently offering experiential services to its customers that go beyond what would be expected of a typical retail store, from complimentary one-on-one design consultations with stylists to individualized home install services, and other highly personalized touchpoints.

“Everything we do is in service to our customer,” says Tannen. “Watching our fabrics on the runway, and sharing this moment with our team and customers, is such a special celebration of how far Boll & Branch has come and how we can continue to show up for them in the most unexpected ways.”

The brand has been committed to conscious craftsmanship from day one—partnering directly with farmers to source the highest quality 100% organic cotton, and with factories that combine modern, sustainable methods with time-honored traditions. Their transparent supply chain is a stark contrast to the standard industry practice of prioritizing profit over people, the planet, and product quality. By building a better end-to-end system from the ground up, Boll & Branch ensures every worker is paid and treated fairly, and every product brings an exceptional feeling of comfort. These values have made Boll & Branch a trusted leader in luxury bedding, setting a new standard for the entire industry.

All Boll & Branch products are crafted by expert artisans using traceable materials. By prioritizing the finest organic threads, and processes that are free from toxins, Boll & Branch offers a difference everyone feels. Millions of Americans, including U.S. Presidents and countless celebrities, have chosen these category-defining products for their homes—making Boll & Branch one of the world’s largest, e-commerce-first luxury home brands.

Boll & Branch was started in Summit, New Jersey by Founders Scott and Missy Tannen, who challenged long-standing conventions and pioneered a conscious path forward—from paying fair wages to workers in the developing world to rejecting the premise that thread count is a measure of quality.
