Woman dies after being hit by car on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta

An Augusta woman died Wednesday after being hit by a car while crossing Peach Orchard Road on Sunday.

Jan Jacoby, 62, of Augusta, was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the 2600 block of Peach Orchard Road late Sunday, according to a news release from the Richmond County Coroner's Office.

Jacoby was taken to Wellstar MCG by EMS, where she was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon, according to the release.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has not announced any arrests in connection to the case as of Thursday morning.
