A man tied to one of the most troubling homicide incidents in the area so far this year has been placed under arrest, police said.

On Aug. 22, Baltimore County police detectives took 36-year-old Bryan Cherry into custody, who was also charged in connection with a double homicide that occurred in Middle River early last month.

Just before 10 a.m. on July 7, officers from the Essex Precinct conducted a wellness check and discovered the bodies of two deceased women — an elderly lady and her granddaughter — in a Middle River residence on the unit block of Taos Circle, authorities said.

Iona Sellers, 75, and Autumn Harvey, 29, were found after sustaining apparent blunt-force trauma to their upper bodies, according to Baltimore County Police spokesperson Trae Corbin. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Cherry has been charged with first-degree murder, police said.

Court charging documents indicate the homicide was a random attack. Evidence gathered during the investigation came from surveillance footage and matching DNA found on a cigarette at the crime scene, according to reports.

According to authorities, Cherry climbed through a window of the Middle River home using a chair before “stabbing Harvey several times.”

He is currently held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
