MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The much-anticipated Muffet McGraw Women Build Week, hosted by Habitat for Humanity, is officially underway, marking another chapter in the transformative journey of homeownership and community spirit.

This year’s initiative is particularly special as it focuses on future homeowner Terrie Dixon, who is not just the beneficiary of a new home but also an active participant in its construction. Dixon, who has dedicated over a year to the Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program, has contributed 250 hours of service towards building her future home.

“This experience is about more than just constructing walls and roofs,” Dixon shared with enthusiasm. “It’s about forging connections and creating a sense of security and empowerment. To be a homeowner means everything to me—it’s a new journey filled with blessings.”

Leading the building team is the esteemed Muffet McGraw, former Notre Dame women’s basketball coach and a passionate advocate for affordable housing. McGraw, who has collaborated with Habitat for Humanity on 15 homes, continues to champion the cause of women empowerment through her tireless work with Women Build.

The new home, part of The Fields at Highland in Mishawaka, symbolizes more than just bricks and mortar—it represents the strength of community and the enduring impact of collective effort.

As volunteers and supporters come together to contribute their skills and time, the week promises to be a celebration of both tangible progress and the invaluable relationships formed in the process.
