Friday, August 16, 2024 — Michiana residents should prepare for a mixed bag of weather today as thunderstorms roll in during the morning hours, followed by a surge of sunshine in the afternoon.

Early risers may notice thunderstorms sweeping across the region between 5 and 9 AM, moving in from Illinois. Although these storms could bring some heavy rain, the risk of severe weather is low as the storms are expected to weaken upon arrival.

Once the storms pass, the skies will begin to clear, allowing for partly cloudy conditions by the afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the mid-80s, with humidity levels remaining high, making for a warm and muggy day.

As the day progresses, a weak boundary moving into the area could trigger more scattered storms in the evening, but again, the risk of severe weather remains minimal.

The weekend will bring cooler, unsettled weather as an upper-level low-pressure system lingers over the region. Expect scattered showers both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures dipping into the 70s.

Looking ahead to next week, the forecast promises mild, dry, and comfortable conditions, providing a welcome break from the recent stormy weather.

Friday: Morning storms with afternoon sun. High 86°F.

    Tonight: Scattered storms. Low 66°F.

    Saturday: Scattered showers. High 78°F.

    Sunday: Scattered showers. High 76°F.
