Logan County, W.Va. — In an unexpected twist of daily life, a pet kangaroo brought a touch of whimsy and a brief halt to traffic on Mud Fork Road in Verdunville. The unusual sight unfolded as the kangaroo, seemingly on a leisurely adventure, bounded through the neighborhood, captivating locals and slowing down morning commuters.

Noah Manns, a driver heading to work, recounted the amusing disruption. “There were five cars ahead of me stopped in the middle of the road,” Manns said. “When I finally got a clear view, there was a kangaroo hopping up the road.” The sight was so unexpected that it turned into an impromptu photo op for Manns, who managed to snap pictures of the roaming marsupial.

Though the incident caused a temporary traffic snarl, Manns chose not to involve law enforcement, recognizing the kangaroo as the beloved pet of local residents. “I called my friend, and she immediately got in touch with the owners,” Manns explained.

The kangaroo was soon safely returned to its home, much to the relief of its family. Beth Southern, Communications Director for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, confirmed that owning kangaroos is legal in the state, adding a touch of legitimacy to this otherwise charming story.

This delightful encounter highlights the unique and sometimes surprising aspects of life in West Virginia, where even a pet kangaroo can make headlines and add a bit of joy to the everyday routine.
