    Paterson detectives arrest 3 amid spree of robberies

    PATERSON — City police detectives arrested three men on robbery charges Thursday night and are looking into whether they are connected to a two-day surge in such crimes .

    The suspects — all Paterson residents in their mid-20s — where charged with committing what became Paterson’s 10th robbery in two days, authorities said. The accused allegedly took a gold chain and cash from a man at 21st Avenue and East 24th Street at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.

    Most of the other nine robberies that happened on Tuesday and Wednesday targeted victims' gold chains and other jewelry.

    Here’s a list of the first nine robberies based on the police reports and the bulletin about the crimes:

    • Two people robbed a gold chain from a man at 3:52 p.m. on Tuesday near the corner of East 27th Street and 22nd Avenue, in Paterson’s 6th Ward. The victim was injured, police said.
    • Someone robbed a business on Market Street, less than a block from City Hall, at 6:11 p.m. on Tuesday.
    • A strong-arm robbery took place on 17th Avenue, near East 22nd Street, at 6:23 p.m. on Tuesday.
    • Three men, including one brandishing a handgun, committed a robbery near the corner of Franklin and Mercer streets at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
    • A robbery and carjacking happened near Memorial Parkway and Market Street at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
    • Someone used a knife to commit a robbery near the corner of Ellison and Summer streets at 11:39 a.m. on Wednesday.
    • A gunpoint robbery targeting a FedEx employee delivering a package happened near East 19th Street and 21st Avenue at 4:44 p.m. on Wednesday.
    • An attempted kidnapping and robbery happened at 100 Hamilton Plaza, the high-rise office building near City Hall, at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
    • Multiple suspects armed with a gun and a knife committed a strong arm robbery on Highland Street at 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday, a crime in which they targeted someone riding a bicycle.
