Division I boys tennis players gathered in Findlay and Fremont and Division II competitors met in Port Clinton and Bryan this week for sectional tournament action, determining the qualifiers for the upcoming district tournaments.

Findlay hosted two D-I sections. In Section 1, St. Francis’ Nick Miller was the singles champion. Other district qualifiers in singles included Anthony Wayne’s Ian Briars, Whitmer’s Sam Just, and Findlay’s Owen Vick.

Anthony Wayne’s Logan Sutto and Brody Sutto captured the Section 1 doubles title and will be joined at the district tournament by Findlay’s Sam Swisher and Owen Miller, St. Francis’ Lucas Toma and Owen Little, and AW’s Will Black and Geyer Tollstam.

In Section 2, local qualifiers for districts in singles included Whitmer’s Aiden Bellman and Parker Moell and Bowling Green’s Caleb Goff.

In doubles, Bowling Green’s Aaron Hershberger and Zach Mangan and Perrysburg’s Solomon Lambdin and Jack Kreienkamp qualified out of Section 2.

Fremont Ross also hosted two D-I sectionals. Cole Kensey won the Section 1 singles title for the host school and was the only local qualifier for districts.

In Section 1 doubles, Fremont’s Jackson Swinehart and Zachary Bishop qualified in fourth place.

Section 2 in Fremont featured more local representation as Northview’s Max Forquer won the singles title, followed by Miles Green and Nathan Tam, both of St. John’s Jesuit.

Southview brothers Isaac and Landon Vens won the section doubles title. Their fellow district qualifiers include Zennon Zaleski and Kameel Mawad of St. John’s, Karsten Huber and Adam Darwich of St. John’s, and Bryce Behan and Shane Kagy of Northview.

Bryan hosted a lone sectional at the Division II level. Jack Kayse of Ottawa Hills won the singles title there and will be joined at districts by Landon Bassett of Bryan, Akash Parikh of Ottawa Hills, and Sebastian MacDonald of Central Catholic.

Ottawa Hills also won the doubles bracket with the duo of Savith Vijendra and Chris Thompson. Wauseon’s Gavin VanDeilen and Carson Wenger, Ottawa Hills’ Micah Walker and Sahil Parikh, and Archbold’s Cam Yoder and Jay Riley are the other district qualifiers.

In Port Clinton, Blake Denno of the host school finished third in singles to be the only local qualifier in either singles or doubles.
