    Bedford graduate Wiemer heads to Reds as part of deal for pitcher Frankie Montas

    CINCINNATI — Outfielder Joey Wiemer (Bedford High School graduate), a prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, is in a way heading home as he is set to be traded to the Cincinnati Reds as part of a deal involving starting pitcher Frankie Montas, according to a report from FanSided on Monday night.

    Wiemer played his college ball at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a fourth-round pick by the Brewers in 2020.

    In addition to receiving Wiemer, the Reds also acquired relief pitcher Jakob Junis, according to an MLB.com report.

    Wiemer has primarily played with Triple-A Nashville in 2024, batting .242 and walking 43 times, with 21 RBIs over 53 games. He played in 132 games for the Brewers in 2023, hitting .204 with 19 doubles, 13 home runs, and 42 RBIs.
