Special Events: German-American Festival and Rock the Runway bring on weekend parties

Ziggy Zaggy, Ziggy Zaggy, Oi, Oi, Oi! It is once again time for the fabled German-American Festival from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Oak Shade Grove, located at 3624 Seaman Road in Oregon. ■ Local artist Julia LaBay will host an opening reception of her solo art show at Owens Community College’s Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. LaBay is a 3D technical assistant and instructor in the University of Toledo College of Art. She was most recently an artist in residency at Imagination Station. ■ Imagination Station will be celebrating the science of bubbles on Sunday. Activity opportunities include bubble painting, learning how to create different sizes of bubbles, making the biggest bubbles, and designing bubble wands. ■ Rock the Runway will return to the Glass City on Saturday at Glass City Center. Models, musicians, and dancers will come together for a unique event centered around the title fashion show that will showcase Toledo’s top fashions from the likes of Sophia Lustig, Vivian Kate, Francesca’s, Dillard’s, Meig, Zina’s, Hip to the Groove, and Ticknor’s.
