Toledo Zoo honored for excellence in educational programming

The Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration has presented the Toledo Zoo with its 2023-24 Pinnacle Award in recognition of the zoo’s educational programming efforts.

Toledo’s is the only zoo in the state to receive the honor.

Established in 1994, CILC has developed hundreds of partnerships — with museums, zoos, and science and performing arts centers — to provide children and educators with access to a variety of interactive virtual learning opportunities.

Each year, the Pinnacle Award is given to content providers who receive the highest ratings from educators and activity coordinators participating in their programs. The evaluations focus on educational value, interactive engagement, and professional delivery of programs via videoconferencing technologies.

The Toledo Zoo uses cutting-edge videoconferencing to engage with school students, making learning about animals, conservation, and the environment an interactive and memorable experience.
