    Fall-specific food celebrations highlight September

    A Taco Tuesday Dinner Cruise on the Sandpiper is set for Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests should meet at the dock near 1 Jefferson Ave. to board the Sandpiper.

    Dinner will be catered by Los Toros Catering, including three tacos, rice, beans, chips, and salsa, along with soft drinks and water provided.

    Alcoholic beverages are allowed, and it's encouraged to bring a small cooler to keep drinks cool.

    Ciderfest419 , presented by Toledo Night Market and Metroparks Toledo, is back on Sept. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Glass City Metropark, 1505 Front St.

    The event invites guests to try a variety of local and regional ciders, along with samples of beer, wine, and mead. Live entertainment is provided by Bret Maynard, alongside games, and food options.

    Guests must be 21+ to attend. Tickets are $45, which include admission to the festival, 8 drink tastings, a commemorative glass, snacks, games, and live entertainment. Designated driver tickets are available at the door for $20.

    The annual Oktoberfest celebration is approaching, with traditional German dancing, beer, food, and more to be expected.

    On Sept. 22 from 12 to 8 p.m., the Bavarian Sports Club is bringing German culture to Toledo, with live entertainment from Polka Floyd and the Screaming Heathens. The event takes place outside near Maumee Bay Brewing Company in Growler Park, 27 Broadway St., it’s family and dog friendly, and has no admission fee.

    Maumee Bay Brewing Company is hosting its fourth season of Hop Chef on Sept. 26, where chefs compete in a beer-infused cooking contest at 201 Morris St.

    Six local chefs will prepare a course using a Maumee Bay Brewing Company beer. Each guest in attendance will sample the dishes paired with the beer used in the cooking process.

    Tickets are $75 for general admission. Proceeds from the event will go to Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity.

    The Green Lantern Lunch, 509 Broadway St., is hosting its First Annual Chili Cook-off on Sept. 28 from 12 to 6 p.m.

    There will be desserts, activities for all ages like live music, a bonfire and s’mores, and bouncy houses, and — of course — chili.

    To enter the chili contest, tickets are $20, which includes all-you-can-eat chili, desserts, and a beverage. Pre-sale tickets are $20 at the door on the day of the event. Children 10 and under are $5, and the event is free for children younger than 2. Tickets are $15 for those not entering in the contest.
